At the very least, my family somehow manges to get to Kentucky Horse Park every year. Even with a newborn in tow. Twice. (Once with my sister’s son and once with mine.) Of course there are big horse shows held at KHP – Arabian Nationals and the Rolex, for example. But there is also a great museum, the Hall of Champions, the Parade of Breeds, and the most fun gift shop.
That said, my dream horse vacation is to go riding in Ireland, France, or Italy. There are several European horse vacations available and my sister and I have dog-eared and worn through the catalog. We also canceled our European vacations. Twice. (Once we she found out she was pregnant — Italy. Once when I found out I was — Ireland. Thank goodness for travel insurance!) It is a still an aspiration and I wonder if anybody reading this blog has gone on one of these tours and what their experience was like? Any tips?

Dana, next time you are trekking over to Lexington swing by Louisville to visit the Derby Museum. If you love horses, you’ll dig the Barn and Backside tours in the early morning hours to watch them work on the track. They start up again on March 15th. Best, Wendy
